Roanoke Law Foundation Fellows Program
The Fellows of the Foundation program began in 2012 and was established to help the Foundation expand its activities and reach into the Roanoke Valley community by undertaking projects to support worthy causes the Fellows believe are in the best interest of the legal community and the administration of justice, and to provide additional financial support to achieve these goals.
As outlined in the Roanoke Law Foundation Trust Agreement, membership as a Fellow is by invitation only, and is limited to ten (10) percent of the active and associate members of the Roanoke Bar Association practicing in Virginia. Those initially invited were present and former bar leaders with the Roanoke Bar Association, the Virginia State Bar, the Virginia Bar Association and the Virginia Law Foundation. The roster of Charter Fellows was completed in June, 2012, and nominations will now be solicited annually from existing Fellows, and other members of the Bar will be invited to fill out the Fellows’ ranks. Membership entails a commitment by all Fellows to contribute to the Foundation at least $250/year for ten (10) consecutive years. Following these contributions, a Fellow will be deemed a Life Fellow. In addition, any Fellow who contributes $2,500 at the time of election shall be designated a Life Fellow. Life Fellows will be designated Sustaining Life Fellows if they continue to contribute the minimum amount for another ten (10) years. The designation Life Patron Fellow requires a contribution (or pledge) of $5,000 – $9,999; Life Benefactor Fellow requires $10,000 – $24,999; and Life Leadership Fellow requires $25,000 or more.
