Judicial Investitures of Hon. L. Ciaffone and Rachel Thompson, June 2024
The investitures of The Honorable Leisa K. Ciaffone and The Honorable Rachel L. D. Thompson were held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at the Roanoke City Courthouse.
The invocation was given by Dave Sloop, Senior Minister, Church of the Holy Spirit. The Honorable James R. Swanson, Chief Judge, Circuit Court, introduced the public officials and welcomed those in attendance.
The Honorable Rachel L. D. Thompson was sworn in as a Judge of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, Twenty-Third Judicial District. A robe was presented to Judge Thompson by Christen C. Church, President of the Roanoke Bar Association, Nancy Reynolds, President-elect Virginia Women’s Attorney’s Association and Rachel Lower, President Salem-Roanoke County Bar Association. Christine Poarch, Esq. shared a few remarks and congratulations to Judge Thompson. The Hon. Christopher Clemens administered the Oath.
The Honorable Leisa K. Ciaffone was sworn in as a Judge of the Circuit Court. Justice Lawrence L. Koontz, Jr., administered the Oath. The Hon. Hilary D. Griffith shared remarks and congratulations to Judge Ciaffone. The Rev. Quigg Lawrence, Bishop, Church of the Holy Spirit, gave the benediction.
