(Skip) Fox\, IV (see biography below)\nIn the current environment of increasing litigation and claims\, many clients seek advice on different means of protecting their assets.  This session will examine the advantages and disadvantages of the different techniques of asset protection from the simpler such as gifts\, the  titling of property\, and the use of trusts for third party beneficiaries to the more complex such as the use of limited partnerships and limited liability companies\, offshore trusts\, and domestic asset protection trusts.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCLE Credit:\n\nApproved for 1.0 hours of CLE (0.0 ethics)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCost:\n\nThe 1-hour CLE session is being offered through a special arrangement with the Roanoke Valley Estate Planning Council (RVEPC) at no cost to RBA members\, representing 1 hour of the 4 hours of free CLE included in RBA membership.  RBA members are invited to stay for the social hour\, dinner and program.  For those who are not members of the RVEPC\, the cost for the social hour and dinner is $35.00.   Payment is expected at the door; the RVEPC is not able to invoice RBA members.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration:\n\nRegistration will be handled by the RVEPC. Please specify which events you will attend (CLE\, social hour\, dinner/program).\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCancellation:\n\nTo cancel\, send an email to Nick Lampros no later than 12:00 noon on Monday\, February 29\, 2016.  Cancellations after this date/time will be billed a $30.00 cancellation fee for any social hour/dinner reservations.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBiography:\n\nSkip Fox is a partner in the Charlottesville office of McGuireWoods LLP and head of the firm’s Private Wealth Services Industry Group. Skip concentrates his practice in estate planning\, estate administration\, trust law\, and charitable organizations. Skip has been on the faculty of the American Bankers Association’s National Trust School and National Graduate Trust School since 1987. He was an Adjunct Professor at Northwestern University School of Law where he taught from 1983 to 2005 and has been an Adjunct Professor at the University of Virginia School of Law since 2006. He speaks extensively around the country on estate planning topics and is the co-presenter of the long-running monthly teleconference series on estate planning and fiduciary law issues sponsored by the American Bankers Association. Skip has contributed articles to numerous publications and is a regular columnist for the ABA Trust Newsletter on tax matters. He is the author or co-author of six books on estate planning topics. Skip is a Fellow and Treasurer of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. Skip received his A.B. from Princeton\, his M.A. from Yale\, and his J.D. from the University of Virginia. Skip’s wife\, Beth\, is a retired trust officer and they have two sons\, Quent and Elm.
