DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\nDate/Time:\n\n\nApril 5 \, 2025\nThe Roanoke Country Club\n3360 Country Club Drive NW\nRoanoke\, Virginia 24017\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Program:\n\n\n\nRoanoke Bar Association\nCentennial Gala\nPlease join us as we celebrate our 100 years of history\n\nOn Saturday\, April 5\, 2025\, please join us as we celebrate with cocktails\, dinner\, dessert and music.  The evening will be about socializing and celebrating. There will be a very brief welcome from our committee chairpersons\, Amy Geddes and Thomas Miller\, beginning at 6:30pm.  Dinner will begin at 6:45pm. Service will be in the form of food stations ending at 8:45pm. The menu will include Beef Tenderloin\, Chicken Skewers\, Shrimp and Grits\, Flank Steak\, and Salmon along with assorted sides\, salad and desserts. Drink tickets will be picked up along with the nametags. There is no assigned seating.\nEnjoy the display of our historical memorabilia and take time to view the many recorded interviews of our members on the various screens. Hurley and Hoprich Photography will be there taking pictures throughout the evening.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Music Requests :\n\n\nMusic with be provided by RSP Entertainment. The playlist will be based on the music you select. Music requests are open. Bernard Goodwyn\, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia. Chief Justice Goodwyn graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia’s School of Law in 1986. Prior to his appointment to the bench\, Goodwyn practiced law at the law firm of Willcox & Savage. On October 10\, 2007\, Goodwyn was appointed to the Supreme Court of Virginia by Governor Tim Kaine. He became chief justice on January 1\, 2022.\nPrior to hearing from our speaker\, there will be a presentation of a Proclamation on the 100th Anniversary of the incorporation of the RBA by Mayor Joe Cobb.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Board Meeting:\n\n\n10:45 a.m. Executive Committee\, 11:00 a.m. Board Meeting\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMemorial Resolution:\n\n\nNone\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeeting Reservations: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Cost:\n\n\n$25.00; make check payable to Roanoke Bar Association\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Payment:\n\n\nPayment is expected at the door.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Parking:\n\n\nParking in the Shenandoah Club lot is for club members only. This includes attorneys who are new to the area or new to federal practice. The program will include an introduction to the courthouse\, the judges\, clerks\, courtroom deputies\, and courtroom security. This event is co-sponsored by the Roanoke Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association. SUMMARY:Senior Shine and Dine Dinner\, April 23-24\, 2025
DESCRIPTION:The Senior Shine and Dine returns for the fourth year!  \nImagine graduating from high school and your family not having the financial means to celebrate this milestone.  Imagine further that you are homeless\, and you may not even have a family.  Many students graduating from Patrick Henry and William Fleming High Schools are in this situation. these students have accomplished so much yet often have no one able to celebrate their graduation. \nThe RBA will provided the decorations\, the catering and assist as the wait staff to provide a special day for these seniors and their guests.  On April 23\, 2025\, a room at Greene Memorial Church will be transformed into a happy and special place to celebrate and on April 24\, 2025\, members of the RBA will serve a catered meal and provide cleanup. \nVolunteer registration is now closed.
