RBA – 100th Annual Meeting, June 10, 2025
President Amy Geddes called the 100th Annual meeting to order. The 100th Annual RBA meeting was held at the Shenandoah Club.
President Geddes recognized RLF Chairman, Christen Church, who announced the scholarship recipients. Nathan Snow will receive the Jane Glenn Scholarship and a James Kincanon Scholarship. He will attend the University of Richmond School of Law. Additional recipients of James Kincanon scholarships include; Ryan Smith who will attend Duke University School of Law, Margaret Tower attending the University of Virginia School of Law and Madelynn Sprouse attending Washington & Lee School of Law. Ms. Geddes also announced this years grant recipient, the Local Office on Aging. She announced that the Legal Aid Society of Roanoke Valley would receive an additional grant from the Centennial Funds.
Amy Geddes presented a donation from the RBA to the RVPA in thanks for their assistance with the monthly luncheons. Accepting the donation on behalf of the RVPA was Stephanie Rodgers. Ms. Geddes welcomed Monica Monday up to introduce Alicha Grubb, the 2025 Young Lawyer of the Year. The 2025 Frank “Bo” Rogers Lifetime Achievement Award was then presented to Roy V. Creasy by Lori Thompson. Lori Bentley was recognized as the recipient of the 2025 VSB Local Bar Leader of the Year Award. Amy Geddes presented a new award, the Roanoke Star Award, to Diane Higgs for her assistance with the various centennial events throughout the year.
Amy Geddes announced the RBA was the recipient of an Award of Merit which will presented at the Virginia State Bar meeting in June. She read the list of Presidents Volunteer Service recipients for 2024.
Amy Geddes passed the RBA gavel to new president, Jonathan Puvak, who then recognized Amy for her service as president to the RBA.
