Pro Bono Program
Pro Bono Conflict Case Volunteers
The Roanoke Bar Association recognizes the importance of equal access to justice for individuals at all levels of the economic spectrum. In accord with this sentiment and its bylaws, the RBA is committed to receiving conflicts cases from Blue Ridge Legal Services, Inc. and the Legal Aid Society of the Roanoke Valley. These cases qualify for services from those agencies except for conflicts of interest. Thus, the RBA encourages its members to complete its Pro Bono Conflict Case Form to identify the conflict cases you are willing to accept on a pro bono basis from the geographic locations and areas of practice served by Blue Ridge Legal Services and the Legal Aid Society. Participation may be by full representation or advice only. For advice-only cases and cases for which the RBA member will not appear in court, the RBA member must be compliant with the Virginia Rules of Court, including rules governing ghostwriting. The cases will be distributed on a rotating basis to encourage involvement by all participating RBA members. Please keep records on your time spent for recognition at the RBA annual meeting. Your service to this population is invaluable and encouraged.
